Are all the images of Christ is Fake or pure imagination of the painter?

because he has a different images.

Report as

The pictures used to represent Jesus are based off of contemporary cultural norms. I wouldn't call them "fake," though they are not an accurate representation. It's like using actors in films that depict historical events. The film isn't "fake," but it's not completely accurate. Nothing is ever completely accurate.

are you not wondering that the image of Christ has a different images? this a clear manifitation that they are all fake. in the first place Jesus himself commanded to a woman to have a long in the contrary the man if he has a long hair it is a shameful for him.
Report as
You're missing my point. When hollywood casts an actor in a film to represent a historical person, that person is not fake. He or she bears some resemblance to the historical person, but that is usually a physical appearance representing personal traits, not a physical appearance representing a physical appearance. The photos of Jesus we have today likely look nothing like Jesus did, but it's not because they are fake, it's because they use present day cultural ideas of what physical attributes would represent the personal character of Jesus.

jkgarret17:, please I want verse rather than storytelling specially when it is not biblical. do you?
Report as
The Bible is storytelling, the greatest story ever told. Translating that story from an ancient, dead language and culture into contemporary society is a difficult task, but one well worth undertaking.

well the bible states he had hair like wool therefore christ was a very real prophet and had been seen. In world ancient history it tells of his preachings. he clearly existed.since there was not records back then no one knows detail for detail what he looked like, unless you are saying the bible is a lie in it's description. also you can't nit-pick what you want to hear and expect what choose to hear to be true. plus if you did not want my opinion you should not have asked the question.

I believe very strongly that no one is old enough to describe what he looked like. And yes all the paintings are a man's imagination, it's just the truth.==============2 Corinthians 5:16 Kjv===============Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we [him] no more.

Well, saying that they are fake is kind of like saying the images were from the imagination of the painter, but yes they were "fake and imagined". No one made any paintings of Jesus while he was alive, because that was usually reserved for the rich. Because no images of him existed, the early church wanted to spread the gospel, but many people couldn't read then, so they made paintings and statues. The artists didn't have anything to work with, so they used images of the native people, which is why you see Jesus with images of different ethnic groups.

No artist has ever seen Jesus.....they paint what they imagine from descriptions of Him in the Bible. They have faith that he existed....which He did.

Most of the images we have of Jesus today are probably not accurate. Jesus was a Jew, so He likely had dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair. This is a far cry from the blond-haired, blue-eyed, fair-skinned Jesus in many modern pictures. One thing is clear: if it were important for us to know what He really did look like, Matthew, Peter and John, who spent three years with Him, would certainly be able to give us an accurate description, as would His own brothers, James and Jude. Yet, these New Testament writers offer no details about His physical attributes .http://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-look-like.html

No one who saw Jesus is alive and they didnt make paintings then, esp not of heretical religious zealots (how he was seen by those who didnt folliw him).
Of course all depictions of him are fake and pure imagination. No one knows what he really looked like and the bible doesnt say.
He was a middle eastern jew yet pictures show him as a caucasian man. some even give him blue eyes. Silly. He was almost certainly dark haired, dark eyed with light brown skin.

Christ is real but the pictures are fake. Not to be racist but if it was real, he would have much darker skin.

When Christianity become the state religion of Rome they changed all the images of Apollo in to Jesus. Then it just became the traditional image we know.

Ah, I never knew actually knew why they chose the image, but this explanation does make quite a bit of sense.

First of all the teaching of Jesus Christ must came from Jerusalem not from Rome which is the true enemy of Christ. according to the book of Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

14thPlace: I'm sorry Christianity does not the state religion of Rome it is the catholicism please the Gosphel of Apostle Paul to the Romans and you will findout what is the difference. Romans 1:16,22-23,25 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.Professing themselves to be wise, they become fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Who changed the truth of God into a lie,
