Turn off all distractions in your room for one night, whether its a TV, the screensaver on your computer, and iPod, phones, you get the point. Once all obstructions are eliminated lay in bed for a few minutes. Try to clear your mind of worries for future reference. Your focus should slowly start to slow down resulting into hibernation mode; sleep. After one or even a second night of doing these steps you should be home free! P.S. drink water with your dinner rather than soda pop, or coffee!
I have heard that if you go to bed early two nights before your event you will be well rested say tomorrow you have to get up at 4 and last night you went to bed early and let's say the night before that you went to bed late you would be tired tomorrow but I both nights you went to bed early you wouldn't be tired are yah feelin' me?
Self motivation! I have this problem everyday! You have to think of a reason you need to get up, such as you won't have enough time to get ready for the day!! You will be rushed and that just adds uneccesary stress
Still go to bed early and read or listen to quiet music. Your body and your mind will still be resting, even if you're not sleeping. Not as good, but better than staying up late. You need time to get used to a different sleep schedule. It'll take a few days & nights to get there, and you might very well feel tired until you adjust. But be patient and consistent with yourself and you'll be okay.
