try hand feeding in the beginning and stop feeding it human food. give your dog a regular feeding schedule. dont just leave the food out. try a different brand if that helps, or try putting bits of treats into the food, so that the dog must eat through the food to get to the treat.
lock your dog in a room for eight hours with a bowl of dog food and a bowl of water eventually it will eat the food and from that moment on the dog will eat the food. this is for drastic measures of course but you could also get on your knees and eat the dog food to influence your dog because you eat the same substances now and it wants to be like you (in the dog's eyes you are the alpha male / female and the dog will follow your lead because of your pack status.)
I disagree with all the "Stop feeding human food" advice. Human food mixed with their kibble is good for their digestive system (studies have proven this). Do a search on "Satin Ball" for a recipe to help her regain weight and stimulate her desire to eat.
My dog is very spoiled and we started feeding her little scraps of human food when she was a puppy (bad idea) ... She still eats Pedigree wet dog food. She won't touch dry dog food at all. We mix in whole grain rice and chopped up carrots with 1 bag of her wet dog food 2x daily and she eats it right up. Sometime we put a little parmesian cheese on top too.
If you don't want it to eat human food then DON'T GIVE IT HUMAN FOOD!
I know it may seem simple and it IS! If you don't give it to them they won't eat it. Just give them dog food. They will go on a bit of a hunger protest, but in time they will get hungry enough and eat what you give them.
I personally don't feed dog food at all; my babies are on a homemade raw diet. That is totally not for everyone though, and a lot of work.
Not all dog food is actually that great for dogs. It's filled with fillers, low grade meat byproducts, and sometimes even sawdust!
My advice to you is to find a good quality dog food that lists a type of meat as the first ingredient and is free of grains like wheat and corn. The next step is to enlist everyone in the household to stop giving handouts. Next, pick two times of day that you will feed your dog. Put the food down for 30 minutes and if it's not eaten pick it back up until next time. The dog will eventually eat it. If you are feeding dry food, flood it with water. People who say dog food cleans dogs teeth is like saying cereal cleans children's teeth. Make sure your dog has good things to chew on like bully sticks or hard marrow bones (the round kind with the marrow in the center). Raw bones will not hurt dogs, though lots of people will squak that they will. It's the cooked kind that splinter and cause problems.
Dogs like variety. Shop around for a butcher that will sell you cheap meat scraps, chicken carcasses, bones etc ( dogs love this as long as it's not cooked ). Then mix it up, one day canned food, the next dry food, the next chicken carcasses, the next left overs from your dinner. Give it variety and it'll be happy and healthy.
My boxer had this problem, she would dig in the garbage and not eat her dog food. I hid all human food/garbage bags from her. Then I placed some human food in with her dog food bowl. Soon after, she was eating plain old dog food! Hope this helps.
My Beagle was the same exact way, what you do is you immediately stop feeding her human food "I know allot of people already said that" but if that doesn't work, add some warm water in it and let it soak awhile, this works for my dog and she loves it! Good luck!
Oh my gosh! My dashound will not eat his dry food so when we went on vacation our friend just gave him dry food if he doesnt eat it take it away from him an hour later give it back to them and if he is hungry they will eat it :)

if it doesn't eat hard dog food give it can dog food but then start mixing the hard and can together and slowly take out the can and it will eat dog food or put water in the hard dog food to soften it up that's what i do for my dogs
First what are you feeding her? If the food is a low quality dog food and meat is labeled by-products, and if it has things like corn, soy and wheat in the ingredients, then your dog doesn?t want to eat what?s bad for her. Would you want hotdogs everyday? Get her something healthy and reasonably priced like Natural Balance Ultra, she?ll love it and it?s all good ingredients. Also watch what?s in those treats, if they?re not natural they?re not good for her either.
Give the dog dog food, and dog treats. If you keep feeding it human food, it won't eat anything but that. Try giving your dog beneful, my pit bull LOVES it, and my chihuahua who hardly ever eats her dog food, loves it too, only dog food she'll eat.
