Do miscarried children go to heaven?

My mom miscarried, and I'm wondering if my sibling is in heaven...I'm a Christian and so are my parents, so would that take any affect? Does the Bible say that miscarried children will go to heaven? Where? Thanks :)

Report as

I believe they are in heaven. Our spirit is what goes to heaven and the debate comes from the argument of when the spirit enters a body. I believe it is at the time of conception but that is just my belief. There is nothing to prove anyone's belief on this as far as I know, as in a specific scripture. But I believe your baby sibling is in heaven. Of course there a many different opinions on this subject. I am only posting my point of view to help you. I am sorry for your loss If unbelievers want to disagree that is fine but I will not debate with you so save it for another place and time.

Ever since the Catholic Church voted away Limbo I've been confused too.

Limbo is still part of Catholic Theology. The name is different though.
Report as
You're thinking of Purgatory.
Limbo was for unbaptized + dead infants.
Report as
Yes, I dont recall at what point in time it was taught in the catholic church, but if an infant wasn't baptized before it died it would not go to heaven. At least in some parts of Europe during the middle ages the only hope if a baby died without being baptized was to have it buried under the alter of a catholic church. It's very sad to me how institutional Christianity can loose it's way so badly by basically inventing doctrines.

The Catholic Church abandoned Limbo in 2007. This isn't Ancient practice. :p
Also, when I was looking for the date I found The Onion's elaboration on this..

Yes... I believe miscarried babies go to heaven because God wanted and needed them more in heaven... I believe the reason women miscarry is because God needed more angels... And babies are the purest in every way possible... Any time a women miscarries or has a still birth or looses a child, I believe it's because heaven needed them more than we did... And it's an honor... It hurts tremendously for those who expected the baby and wanted the baby... But God has greater plans for this baby...jesusinc77 please read my comment on my own answer. I wrote this poem for my best friend the day she miscarried this year...

POEM:

Beautiful Angel

You are a beautiful Angel sent from up above.

Even though your time here with us was very short, you were completely loved.

You were given the gift of having the most incredible family and most of all mother...

Your presence was such a miracle unlike any other.

God has chosen to bless us with your light.

Even though it's with him where you will sleep at night.

We will never forget you no matter how much time goes by.

We will celebrate the moments you were here even when we cry.

We know how special you truly are because God wanted you back with him in heaven.

You are such a blessing and that's a given.

Because you are a beautiful Angel sent from above.

Who's time here will always be remembered by a ton of unconditional love.

Yes, I do believe your sibling goes to Heaven. I don't know an exact place in scripture, but that baby had not even reached an age to understand sin or be convicted by God of sin and be held accountable. I believe that these young ones definitely are with The Lord.and covered by His Grace. God reveals sin to us and then convicts us and then we pray for forgiveness but in this case, the child was too young.to be able to do that. I believe the baby was in time of God's Grace. And God's Grace means unmerited, or unearned love. The child couldn't repent. Even though, this is a different type situation: remember the thief on the cross beside Jesus? Well, he was unable to be baptized too because of his circumstances and we are told to be baptized. But, Jesus told him that he would see him in Paradise. I believe that too, was God's Grace. I truly hope this helped you.,

The Bible doesn't really talk about Heaven as a place we go to after we die. That was Plato's philosophy that the New Testament argued against. It instead talks about us entering into the reality of kingdom of Heaven today, while we are alive, and making it a universal reality. I suspect that miscarried infants will have the same opportunity to choose to live with God on the recreated Earth--whatever that may look like--after the resurrection as anyone else, and I suspect that they will choose to do so. If believing in Plato's metaphysical afterlife brings you comfort, I'm sure that whatever awaits a 77-year-old Christian also awaits miscarried babies and young children.

How can they? They are said to be the product of sin! How could they possibly go to heaven without having been absolved of that sin through Jesus? Can sinful people - born & unborn alike - go to the Christian heaven? NO - so says Christianity!!

Ahhh-we meet again. "The Angry One" I named you... This is a CHILD asking this. Do you or do you NOT have a soul ? Sad.
Report as
Does having a soul necessitate telling lies? Or, is it important to tell the truth even if that discomforts someone?
Report as
A child is innocent, sinless, pure. Yes, they go to heaven. Especially a baby, that has no understanding of anything yet.
Report as
And pious, speaking of lies, you ask questions about God, heaven, and spiritual things as if you believe but do do so to argue with the answers, not wanting an answer. Being deceptive is a form of lying. That's hypocritical. You don't believe in God, so why ask? Let us believe what we want and know to be true.

You are conflicting as ever. Don't u preach that ALL children are born into & with hereditary SIN?

When u attempt to spread & inject those lies, it becomes the duty of moral men to refute those, so the ignorant/weak minded people doesn't fall for the vulgar mistakes that u purport. If you stop praying in our schools, we will instantly stop thinking in your brains.

PLEASE READ ! Your sibling was never born into a sinful world. Therefore your sibling requires no redemption. (I can't think of a simpler word here, I"m sorry) THEREFORE YOUR SIBLING'S SPIRIT GOES DIRECTLY BACK TO GOD-your SIBLING'S spirit is FOREVER, and will be given a beautiful PERFECT body on the other side in Heaven. There the baby will meet LOTS of other precious children who have also been through the same thing and their hearts will be filled with so much happiness they will LOVE IT. This answer is from my husband who is a Christian minister who has been back to Viet Nam 11 times to help others and has seen much suffering around the world. He knows things better than I in the Christian world so I hope it's ok I asked him for the right answer. YOU are in my prayers and BLESS YOU FOR ASKING THIS.

Actually, doesn't it seem a bit off that the child would go to heaven without being given the chance to make a choice whether he will be richeous or not? The child is ressurected on "Judgement day" (which is actually 1000 years according to the bible) after Armageadon where he will be given the chance to grow up and make his choice. And in the bible, it states that only 144,000 will go to heaven to rule over satan-less earth where gods kingdom will reign. Anyways, what happens to the miscarried child depends on what happens on judgement day. As for now, he is at rest, conscious of nothing. It sais directly in the bible "the dead is conscious of nothing".

We do not know for sure, but in my opinion I personally affirm that miscarried babies are in heaven. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says the following: "As regards children who have died without Baptism, the Church can only entrust them to the mercy of God, as she does in her funeral rites for them. Indeed, the great mercy of God Who desires that all men should be saved, and Jesus' tenderness toward children which caused Him to say: 'Let the children come to Me, do not hinder them' (Mk 10:14), allow us to hope that there is a way of salvation for children who have died without Baptism (Catechism 1261). It is worth noting that the unbaptized babies of Bethlehem are honored as saints in the Church on the Feast of the Holy Innocents (December 28) and are certainly in heaven as martyrs for Jesus. A Catholic can hope that God likewise welcomes as martyrs the little ones who have been miscarried and who have been murdered by the crime of abortion, an act that is radically opposed to the gospel of life.

Hope this helps! - ManOfKnowledge

I've always wondered that too. God made the woman mmiscarry, so I would say yes, they probably do go to heaven.Plus, the baby did nothing wrong. Only people that do wrong things go to you-know-where.

Yes, you can be comforted in knowing God is gracious and compassionate. Though born with a sin nature, a baby or young child does not have the understanding to trust Christ as an adult would.
As Daniel referenced above, 2 Samuel 12 is the story of King David losing a new born baby. He grieved, fasting and praying, while the child was alive; but after the child died, David ate and worshiped God. His reason is stated here as he can have peace that when he (David) goes to be with God, he will go to the child. Very comforting and true to God's nature. God bless.
I don't believe those who die as a baby will remain a baby forever, but I do believe you will recognize your sibling. Look forward to that happy moment.

"Then his servants said to him, "What is this thing that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive; but when the child died, you arose and ate food."

He said, "While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, 'Who knows whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?'

But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me."
