What's the difference between invasive and noninvasive? Which is the preferred method and why?

Report as

Invasive method involves insertion of tools like balloons or catheters into the body for diagnosis and treatment while non invasive involves imaging like nuclear tracer imaging or ultrasound. The two techniques are effective, but the invasive procedure is preferred, since it offers an opportunity for treatment. This is according to information from, http://www.texasheartinstitute.org/HIC/HeartDoctor/answer_14.cfm.

Only depending on the problem... Usually invasive proceedures are reserved, after noninvasive methods have failed... To prevent cutting someone open, if we don't have to.
