What is a good baby shower gift for my sister in law?

I need a good baby shower gift. Nothing too run of the mill, but nothing over the top, either.

I gave my sister a baby bottle that looked like a Pepsi bottle. She loved it.

There are many inexpensive ways to give baby shower gifts. You could get her a year supply of diapers or a basket full of toiletries for the new born, or a couple of coupons that offer free services like spa treatments or an evening out for dinner. http://www.gifts.com/occasion/baby-shower/nVa.

A coupon or gift card (handmade by you) that pays for a half-day's worth of help from a house-cleaner. (you can join w/others to raise the number of hours to give her.) Also give it with a small wrapped box of her fav chocolates. And tie it all together with a card where you take a bit of time telling her (or reassuring her) of her best qualities and why they will help her be the best mother ever (new mothers need reassurance . . . And HUMOR). Tell her to call you if she ever wants to talk (and make time to call her back and listen if she does) and a BIG HUG. She'll love it.

You can give her A crate with diapers in it, bottles, bibs with the baby's name on them, and maybe a pacifier. Also a blanket would be nice.

How about things for the crib, such as a mobile or blankets.

Diapers are always wanted and appreciated. If money is a problem you could offer to babysit once a week or more so she can have some time for herself or to spend with her husband. Even just an hour or two so she can run put to the grocery store is a big help.

If you want something special for your Sis, not just the baby take a look at brighton's build a bracelet. They are not expensive at all and so cute. Go to Brighton.com

Also each one of my girls has a special blanket that they still use.

A really cute idea is a diaper cake, I make them. I make 3 receiving blankets to put around it to look like icing and then decorate with little stuff like pacifier holders, burp clothes and a bracelet for the baby. I have given these for a couple of years and people love them. Homemade is the best.

I had a hand-me-down real silver, small baby rattle. It was the mist perfect size & shape for a little baby & I loved it. Wouldn't know where to find one but you could google it.
And...as everyone else said, baby diapers are always appreciated! (Maybe 3 boxes of different sizes.)
