What should I get my father for Father's Day?

He is a master craftsman but has all the tools for woodworking. He is a guitar player but has picks, a guitar case and two guitars. He loves Kid Rock, Metallica, Puddle Of Mudd but has all those cd's. How can I get him something he loves and will use?

Give your dad a hug, look him in the eyes and tell him you are proud that he's your dad. Be genuine about your feelings for him and let him know that you are close enough to him to be the person you really are. Then, and only then, point at his shirt while asking him "what's that" and when he looks down, bring up your finger and smack his nose.

That's a moment he will remember more than any gift, I promise.

A dad

THE BEST IDEA ON HERE!!!! *gives you gold star* i think i'm going to do this too! ty for the suggestion. Glad to know that SOMEBODY out there gets how much it means when people say quality time and not things are the most important in life. Guess these people will have to lose a parent before they fully get it. sad but true. All I can say is that I've tried to tell ppl over and over how important that time is because once the parent is gone there is no more time

Get him tickets to one of the bands concerts if you can afford it but if you can't make him a card he will love it more than the bands themselves

so you HAVE met my daddy before? lmao poor thing every year for Christmas that's all he ends up getting is gift cards to various places. He is so hard to buy for! One year he asked for some gray socks. I think we all bought him some bc he ended up with TEN PAIRS!!! hahahahaha Men's "toys" are expensive (i.e. ATV's, boats, computers, tv's, etc) but when all the family chips in a lil bit they can come out with something pretty good! ;)

You should take you father out to his favorite store to buy what he like most. This will give you an opportunity to know what you father likes more than others, and maybe next time you will have idea on what you will buy for him.

.what if we dont have one money
Report as
true candace3978 has a good point. I believe she is meaning what if he doesn't have any money? have to agree. times are tough especially in this economy. If anyone understands that it's a parent. They sacrifice more for their kids than they are even aware of until they become parents too. Maybe not even then *chuckles* I know my parents gave up things so I wouldn't have to want or need anything. you don't have to buy a single thing. the most precious gift isn't bought in a store because love is free

If your father loves sweets and chocolaty things you should bake him his favorite
You can make him something that has a lot of sentimental value like a scrap book with photos of you together
Or can get him a custom guitar strap with his name or anything you want to put
Good luck (:

If he doesn't have it, give him ROKU. I love mine! He can program all his favorite musicians to play continuously while he works on his woodworking. He will love it! Plus there is so much more available on ROKU (and I am not being paid to tell you this!)

a $50-100 "man toy" that you could easily use any streaming program and stream through your computer FOR FREE. All you have to do is sign up for these other programs and voila the exact same thing! Some people don't have tons of $$$ to spend on frivolous items and I'm pretty sure their dad's would much rather they paid oh idk how about their LIGHT BILL AND WATER BILL so they didn't have to come home and live with him instead of buying such a ridiculous and over priced gadget that HE DOES NOT NEED FOR SURVIVAL. omg BettyPennell you didn't learn a single thing by having to go thru the last few years did you? SMH you are a sad case sad sad sad case. great idea in this economy let's all go out and throw away $100 on some frivolous item we don't need!

candace3978 an example of what BettyPennell is talking about is found here at amazon if you don't want to click the link (which I recommend not doing from strangers) go to amazon or google and type in ROCKU and you will get the same result or you can type this into your browser either of these will work.

Honestly, I personally got my dad the pro fusion styler. But a hair cutter could work too, one that has different blades and such on it. Sometimes getting necessities are the best. Like.. if he has a watch he wants replaced, t-shirt, pants, etc.

Helpful (1) Fun Thanks for voting Comments (1)
Report as
if he trusts you then you could cut his hair for him :P i do my husband's but that would depend on your skill level. I'm no stylist far from it. I just get out the clippers and go right to it. Agree if he needs something that would be good bc men never shop for themselves. My daddy has a pair of tennis shoes THAT HAVE HOLES IN THEM omg he does! I took him to the store and we got him some new shoes right. does he wear them? heck no! He wears those old ones!! I asked him why? he said bc he doesn't want to GET THEM DIRTY! *faints* smh

"Buy him a card he'll love that/male one".. Gag!! I HATE when people say then when I am trying to find something to buy.. Yes,I don't have much money but, I still want to do something.. I got my dad a Swiss army knife.. He lost his.. I also got him some Pilsberry dough boy pants and, a few other things. Also, something you can do that I am guilty of when I can't think of anything to buy. I fill a bag with cologne, shaving cream, t-shirt etc. Hope this helps!!

I gather from your comment you are quite young I'm guessing a teenager or somewhere in that age range. Maybe 20s? idk. doesn't matter. Take it from an old lady (im 37 lmfao) love is NOT bought. you can't find it in a store anywhere in any country on any planet or in any universe. It's given freely. Your dad doesn't want things he has tons of things. All he really wants is you otherwise he wouldn't have stuck around to see you grow up. He can buy what he wants any day of the week. Can he see you every day of the week? ALL THE TIME? I know mine doesn't not even when we lived under the same roof. A wise person told me that any man can be a father but it takes a REAL man to be a daddy
Report as
Uh.. FYI: I am NOT trying to buy love, I have plenty of that.. But, people do enjoy gifts.. I'm sure if you NEVER recieved another gift you would fell pretty left out.. But, anyways it doesn't matter I statement my opinion and, that's the way I feel!!! And, you don't know my family situation.. He might NOT have been around to see me grow up.

im making my daddy a website and hosting it on our server here at the house. He loves to travel around the the country going to various estate sales. Has no time to have someone watch the shop for him while he is gone but a website would do that for him. He has a successful ebay store but this would also get traffic to the brick and mortar facility. Point is I've been thinking REALLY HARD for weeks what could a 63yr old man possibly need that he doesn't already have??? Well other than grandkids but I can't go down the street and pick those up at Walmart hahaha. Put some thought into those hobbies and the things your dad likes. people have given you some good ideas and in the end it really IS about spending TIME with him and NOT THE MATERIAL THINGS. He will honest to God love it if you came and spent the time with him. Want to encourage you to do that as much as you can as often as you can. @NotofthisEarth I LOVED your idea! ;)

I think that you should make your dad a stop motion video. A stop motion video is when you show the process of a drawing in slow motion. usually, there is music in the background. You can send your dad a message, or do what im doing and attach the words "I love you daddy" to balloons and send them into the sky ;)

What I think that you should get your dad a Sudoku calendar, that's what I got my dad for Christmas. If you dont want to spend any money, then what I would do is make a homemade card.
