Make sure you look nice. Dress for the occasion. You don't have to dress up if it's just a normal everyday thing but make sure you are clean and your clothes aren't torn, stained etc... Make sure your breath doesn't smell. That's a real turn off. I train people at work sometimes and every once in awhile someone has awful breath. If someone ever offers you a breath mint, take it. They may just be being polite since they are getting one but it's also a way to let you know that you need one. Once you know you look nice, just try to relax and be yourself. Laugh and have fun but don't laugh to loud or tell any jokes that could be offensive because you don't know this person well yet. Be a good listener and comment on things you know about. Don't fake answers because you might sound strange. If you don't know about something they are talking about ask them and give them a chance to talk to you about it. Do bring up subjects that interest you to see if you have things in common. Be polite and nonjudgmental. It's ok to be nervous. You don't have to try to hard. Some silence in the conversation is okay. If things become awkward just tell them you enjoyed talking to them but have to run and hope to talk in the future.
