Why doesn't my iPod touch 2nd generation work as good as it used to? It's only 1 year old and barely used but apps crash and it shuts down

Hold down the home button and the sleep button at one time. This should take 6-8 seconds. It will then shut down and reset. Wait 2 minutes then turn it back on the usual way! Good luck!

Try taking it into the apple store and see if they can do a reset on it. Maybe it needs a reboot. It worked for my iPhone. Good luck.

you don't need to go to an apple store to do a reset.

just hold the home and sleep/wake button at the same time for about 10 seconds and it performs a reset.

Maybe you have too much stuff (apps, music, podcasts, videos) in it. There needs to be at least a couple of gigs of memory available for it to work properly.
