Greyhounds are awesome house dogs. If you want a good companion, mellow in the house. That's the perfect dog. After they retire from racing they just want to lay around and be loved. But they are fun and playful too! My Lucy (died of bonecancer last summer) loved to play hide and seek! She'd run and find me in the yard then go back and do it again. Very good dogs.
it depends they need a lot of attention and play they dont usually make good house pets but if you are into outdoors and active play and lots of fetch then there you go! i would recommend a small dog if u want a house dog!:)
They can be wonderful house dogs but do need a lot of attention and care. If you are willing to put forth the effort and time for the dog then it can be a great indoor companion. They are very smart dogs as well.
Yes it can be used as a family pet but it is mostly versatile working dog, thus widely used by the military for many functions such as a guard and a sniffer dog among others. The dog can also be used to direct those with sight problems, in search and rescue missions and as a sheepdog by farmers. German Shepards make great house dogs as long as they still get plenty of exercise. Caesar Milan says ' exercise, affection, correction. You can't expect a dog to be a good dog with no love and attention. I've been getting down on my hands and knees and kissing my dogs on the nose while they eat since they were puppies. You have to really know and trust ( love ) your dogs. Make time for them and it pays off big time. There is nothing like having a dog watch every move you make with love in their eyes. Anyone who has a dog knows what I'm talking about.
German shepherds can make wonderful house dogs. I had one for 11 years. They're smart, extremely loyal, very protective. They do need a lot of exercise and they shed a lot. So if you get one, be prepared to brush at least every other day and vacuum the floors frequently. And as with any dog, but especially large ones, good training and obedience are essential.
It all depends on the way you raise the dog if your house is usually loud hectic or tense the dog will be crazy if you have more of a relax quiet house where the dog can still get alot of attention and care you will be fine and that goes for any dog and if you were planning to teach the dog tricks it's better to do it with-in the first 5 weeks
