Why, in the vietnam war, was the enemy called "charlie?"
The North Vietnamese fighters were called the Viet Cong or VC. In radio communications, this would be referred to as Victor Charlie. Thus, the nickname Charlie was eventually adopted from this.
The northern vietnamese army was called Viet Cong or shortened to VC. The alpha text radio protocol ie a=alpha, b=bravo c=Charlie. so VC was victor charlie. Or just shortened to Charlie.
i have no idea why but good question.
