Can I break my lease if there has been two shooting and a fight in the last three months? The last shooting killed three people?

The management said they would make changes with the first shooting but they weren't enforced.

put it in writing, read your lease carefully and talk to your state attorney generals office to verify the pertinent laws, or you will be asked to pay your lease. Do you have written proof of your landlord's promise to improve security? Send e-mails and print the responses. You will need good documentation to legally get out of a lease.

You can break your lease if you feel that you are not secure. If the environment you are living in is not secure enough, you can break the lease and vacate the premises. The management can not hinder or restrain you from moving out.

You have the right to quiet, peaceful, safe, enjoyment of your apt. or home! That's not what you've got! Break the lease, if they threaten to sue you, let them! They'll lose!
