There are hundreds of ways to get rid of hiccups and not all of them work for everyone, each person is different. I simply hold my breath and they go away, although I can hold my breath for near on 2 mins, so it might be different for others

I get SEVERE Hiccups (Last battle lasted five weeks straight) so I have time and reason to try ALL the cures people tell me about.
The ONLY thing I've found that works is to suck on some candy (Soft is better, but hard candy works too) Take the liquid and juice that is produced and swallow quickly and repeatedly. (The longer you can do this the better it works)
You're basically contracting your diaphragm and interrupting the hiccups before they have a chance to even form.
You will also do a fair bit of burping and this is good because it dislodges the trapped air from your system.
Hopefully this will save you from the torture I've had to endure.
yes DO hold your breath. Put simply you're merely trying to refill your lungs. Hence, the quickest, easiest (and I mean you don't even have to have a drink around) is the breathing excercise. Please spread the word. Ok I can hold my breath about 1 min. (let's use that for example). So, initially breath out, all the way. Next deep breath in, start holding HOWEVER if you think your about to hiccup, reach in deeper to your stomach and breathe in just a bit mor. Finally, Use your reserve if they're extreme. If it fails, repeat the breaths after a few min. Like I said, no candy, juice, water, is necessary (especially if you have none). I've used this method all my life. It's always worked or I wouldn't waste your time. Your welcome.
Maybe I don't get very severe cases of hiccups, but what always works for me is to just breathe deeply and don't think about them. I don't know why this works, but it seems to so just sort of ignore them. If that doesn't work then take little sips of water from the opposite side of the glass. Your chin might get a little wet, though. Hope this helps!

I have found the BEST way to get rid of hiccups is to take your first two fingers and firmly press on both of your eyebrows and push up and inward and try to relax your breathing by breathing through your nose and out your mouth. Make sure you press firmly and hold untill they stop, which is for me about 12 to 15 sec. Good luck :) .
a lemon half and sugar. Place the lemon half in sugar, squeeze lemon on tongue so the juice starts to flow and then lick the sugar off the lemon half the same time you are squeezing the lemon. works for me.
hiccup produces by stimulation of vagus nerve reflex. For increase the pressure of Co2 in your brain, you should breathe in a papery bag for 1 minute. This job inhibits the vagus nerve. If this didn't work and your hiccup continued you must go to doctor. He will prescribe for you some antipsychotic drugs that have anti hiccup property like Largactil and Eskazina.
