Why do people try to force their religion onto other people? Why do Christians throw random bible references at you that make no sense?

They don't understand that they aren't helping you they are more of scaring you away. Try to listen, ask them questions, and feel free to tell them how you feel about how they are treating you and ask them to slow down. I myself am Christian and I have realized cramming it down your throat won't help you.

because they don't understand that every single individual upon this earth, whether we are even in the same family or not, is different. It's hard for other christians and religious people to sink this in

Some people want everyone in the world to have equal beliefs, and go beyond what other people prefer to believe to force their religion upon them, or at least, thats my best guess

Give your life to Jesus Christ....Christians give you bible verses to try to show you God's glory and power!

How does this show God's glory and power if it confuses the person being preached to?

Because it doesn't make sense cause your not letting other people explain. Also my great and loving god said to us go and tell the word, proclaim it that he's a live,And that he's the holly and awesome and the only god. That lives.

The world needs more people like you, God bless you and keep telling others about God
Report as
If you believe in one god, you should type "God." I am also curious about this "holly" god you refer to - does that have something to do with a holly bush. Finally, you mention the your god is "a live" what? Or did you mean "alive"? Your comment certainly does not make me want to run out and become a grammar- and spelling- challenged follower.

Because they know that it is the most sensitive part of any persons life. All you can do is to not give any importance to what they say!!!

Maybe, because they want to be able to answer sincerely. But not allowing the holy spirit to truly lead, guide and direct them to speak

I believe the best way to answer your question is to ask God. "If there really is a true living God than make yourself real to me"!?.

i don't know about the second part of this, but i totally get the first. people are always trying to get me to go to church with them even when they know we're not the same religions. people do it because they think it is the right thing to do.

It really is. So many times I have people just say random stuff Jon 12:45 or something like that to explain something

When they give you the verse they're hoping you take the time to look it up.

It makes them feel more secure...they have no need to think or consider the grey areas of life and the questions for which we really have no answers based on our own experience.

Another explanation as to why some christians are always speaking about God and/or their religion can be summed up in a few words-
"From the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks"

Which god? Or did you mean the singular "God"?
Report as
The singular god
Report as
I think.. Im 13 I wish I fully understood the bible king James version.. But not yet hopefully one day I will
Report as
V - that is admirable. However, when you refer to the singular, Christian god you need to capitalize the G. Hope that helps.
Report as
You're fine vika. Your response was great. To help avoid confusion, capitalize the word "God", then most will know you are referring to the one, true God of the Bible. No worries my friend. Green thumb for you! :~)

I hate that as well. I'm Buddhist and I constantly have this happen. My opinion is that most of them are close-minded and can't accept other people and their beliefs, so they try to change that person into who they are and not allow them to lead their own life by making their own choices.

People try to force their religion on you because they have been told they have to. They throw random, nonsensical Bible verses at you because they do not think through what you may "need to hear," instead they quote verses they happen to remember. Religion - take it or leave it. It is a very personal decision.

We dont all do that. To the point, I don't do that. By the same token I often wonder why, when someone brings up GOD or a question on Christianity there are some non believers who have to say negative things about us and our beliefs.

I agree cookie. What I find interesting are those who will ridicule a God they say does not exist. They doth protest too much, methinks... :~)
Report as
So very true!
Report as
Cookie - interesting comment, especially since the original question was about how "Christians" do something that is perceived by many to be very negative. So, you can complain about nonbelievers' actions, but they do not have the same right to complain about your actions? And then you wonder why so many people refuse to have anything to do with the pushier brands of your religion.

I'm puzzled by the fact that the people who claim to say we push our religion on them always seem to be the ones who bring it up.

It also interests me that I have yet to be visciously attacked by a Christian, but

Icwos. If you noticed I began by pointing out Thant not all of us do that. My point was even when we aren't that kind of Christian we get comments about how "illogical", "stupid", etc our beliefs are.

As you can see some believe that in the public arena of ideas Gods name should never be spoken. It's just too disturbing.
In Jesus day it was determined that He was just a little too good and therefore made those who claimed to be perfect look bad. Well we can't have that now can we?
So the only thing the righteous can do is kindly shut up so the unrighteous won't feel guilty or need their psycho-analyst to tell them they'll be ok.
What to do, we certainly can't irritate them into the Kingdom, nor would we want to. I guess we need to learn to let go and let God. :)

I've just had one guy post a religious rant on my FB page. He's a nice guy and I don't want to block him, but it is irritating.

They're trying to save us from a fate worse than death, evanine, but at least they can't ask us to come to meetings or functions. LIke a church fete. I once went to one with a friend and it was so uninspired that it might have been a FETE worse than death 8<{

I'm afraid too many "christians" don't understand their purpose. We are supposed to be explaining the character of God by feeding and clothing the poor, by visiting the sick and the jailed, by showing justice and mercy and walking humbly.
Of course Jesus did that and the religious leaders crucified Him because He was just too good. Maybe not much has changed over the years.

People from every belief are persecuted. It seems people who rely on science and not God are persecuted by the religious; and those who rely on God rather than science are persecuted by those who solely rely upon science.
I just wish people from both sides could respect each other. I mean what does anyone gain by being rude and judgemental?
