Depends on which website you wish to believe. Mandarin chinese places first, english and castilian spanish are both claiming to be second, whereas one is second the other third according to some sites. Clear as mud, isn't it? Personally it doesn't matter.

Habla espanol all over America ,but their are an insane amount of people in China so in turn a lot of people speak Mandarin!

Mandarin chinese is the most spoken and depending on what site you wish to believe english is next then castilian spanish or switch the two around according to another site. Castilian is the dialect spoken in north and central Spain. Again I don't particularly care as I said before, that's like the old arguement what came first chicken or egg. Have a good day though not slamming anyone just tossing out my 2 cents. :)

Well, Spanish is spoken in Spain, all of Central and South America, (including Brazil even though Portuguese is the first language) much of the Southwestern US, several Caribbean islands, several Pacific islands and everywhere Spanish speaking people have gone to live. There's plenty of Spanish spoken in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Jersey City. I live in Toronto, Canada, and this building's maintenance manager and his wife are Mexican.

that's hilarious. I didnt know Mexican's ever went that far up north...but i guess.. I would like to compare China's population with that of Mexico's, Spain's, and all the other Spanish speaking countries, and the people outside of those.

Chinese is the most spoken language in the world because it has the highest population. Spanish is the second most spoken language and english is the third.
