About 4-6 small healthy meals spread out thru the day. Full glass of water before each meal, plus several glasses of water thru out the day. Cardio exercises at least 3-4 times a week. Stay positive!! You can do it!!
Portion control. Everyone always thinks eating healthy and exercise is enough, but sitting down and eating a full bowl of grapes is just as much a crutch as eating a bowl of skittles. Until you get portion control down to where it should be, you won't see the full potential of your efforts

* To increase your "metabolism" you must increase muscle. When we age we often say that our metabolism is slower but in actuality our muscle tone is beginning to wane. Muscle burns calories even at rest- usually what we term as "metabolism." * ALSO: I totally agree with "CTS" about portion control. It is a reality check to find out what a "portion size" actually is. Get an inexpensive electronic food scale that weighs in both grams and ounces... It will be an eye opener! * I lost 40 pounds in 2011- went from a size 16 to a size 6, and most importantly feel healthier than I have in over 10 years! Check out weight watchers and talk with your doctor. And yes, W/W is for MEN and WOMEN! They concentrate on a balanced diet (food pyramid/plate), the importance of movement (ANY movement IS exercise), and most importantly realizing/facing our mental/emotional struggles with food. We tend to use food for all the reasons except real hunger- boredom, stress, celebration, habit, etc. Until you conquer the emotional side you won't get where you want to be- healthy, happy, and in control! Hope this helps. YOU CAN DO IT ! Best wishes & God bless!
Speeding up your metabolism can happen in a few ways: exercise more while eating a balanced meal 3 times a day with 3 nutritious snacks in between. Make sure that you have something fibrous in every meal. For example: Breakfast - plain oatmeal with added fresh berries or whole grain toast or bagel. Lunch - Whole wheat/oat sandwich with avocados, peppers, etc. Dinner - Whole grain pasta with no heavy high-calorie sauces (think about trying an olive oil dressing on it).
Eat healthier, workout regularly. Stop drinking soda because its just empty calories. Drink green tea. Order stuff off the healthy side of a restaurant menu. You can find the restaurant nutrition info online.
I am 5' 9", weighed 248 and now weigh 160. I went on countless diets over the years and continued to battle a weight problem, but now have a problem to keep the weight on! I gave up all "diets" and made a change to what I eat. If you do this you will NEVER be hungry and the weight will come off. That's not too good to be true because I'm not saying that it will be easy. Eat fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, fish (not farm raised), some baked chicken, rarely eat beef, and drink tons of water. If a potato chip looks appealing but an apple does not, that's appetite calling you, not hunger. You must stay away from pastas, breads, etc. Don't be in a hurry and the rest will take care of itself. The weight will begin to "fall off" and you will become slim.
I'm currently on the Atkins' Diet, in which when I was 230 LBS just 6 months ago, I am currently 165 LBS. This is my first and only diet I will ever have to go on. Unless you're a vegetarian, this would be great for you! If you're a Meat-Lover you'll really like the Atkins' diet! You eat hamburger, fish, lamb, whatever you want to pretty much, just no sugar whatsoever, no starchy foods, etc. Just go to Atkins.com and you'll get some good recipes and phases 1-4 in which will keep you low in weight and maintain low weight. I highly suggest this diet, I personally think it is only 1 step lower than Liposuction. And you won't feel guilty that you skipped the process of actually losing the weight and just going to get it sucked out of you. I used to have bad acne and now it's completely gone, just when I lost the weight it went away. I could barely run a mile in 17 minutes now I am down to 8.5 minutes. Everything in my life is better now that I lost weight, and I know that you can do it too! Best of luck to you!
I HIGHLY recommend Tummy Tuck. When you wear the thing it makes your belly three degrees hotter, but you don't notice it at all. The heat burns fat and you can lose thirty or more pounds in twelve weeks. You have to pay something like four payments of fifty bucks. I know it's expensive, but if you wear it all the time, it's TOTALLY worth it.
Graze all day. Your body needs food to rev up the metabolism. Use grapes, pretzels, celery, cucumbers, apples, watermelon, etc. Do it all day - you WON'T be hungry and your metabolism will fly!
A cheap, easy way to expel the fat from your body (LITERALLY), is vinegar. Good for the heart -approved by Dr. Oz! Heard of "Alli"? It works on the same principle: after you finish a meal, take 2 - 4 TBSPS of vinegar. It kind of "neutralizes" the fat & won't allow it to enter the bloodstream. Your body will later expel the fat on it's own, naturally (you'll see a little "oil slick" in the bowl.
To make it easier: 1. In a sm - med sized glass, add 2 - 4 TBSP. (or a shot glass 3/4 full) of Red Wine (or) Cider Vinegar, then fill up the rest of the glass with ice and a diet soda or whatever sounds good, like a nice little after dinner cocktail.
2. Carry a bottle in your car, too, for when you eat elsewhere.
3. Vinegar can erode tooth enamel, so when you drink it, USE A STRAW when possible. If you swig it from the bottle or glass, try to "shoot" it as far back toward the throat as you can, & rinse your mouth .
You need 5 or 6 small nutricious meals spaced evenly throughtout the day. NEVER skip breakfast and make sure you get protein within 30 minutes of waking up in the morning. It always helps to have a way to hold yourself accountable. I get daily coaching and tips from a website i found. It's good stuff, check it out if you like. http://www.myweightloss.patklatt.com
