When was beer invented?

Beer is said to date back to 5th millennium BC, and also dates back to Ancient Egypt, as well as Mesopotamia. It is one of the oldest beverages produced by man.

Beer was the alternative to water because it was less likely to be contaminated. It is said that early humans began their very first settlements based on wheat and barley two main components of beer and the discovery of beer ended the "hunter-gatherer" period and humans began making advances in farming and agriculture.
