Matthew 5:21-22 and esp 38-42
This does not contradict the old testament, it changes it. New laws for outdated ones. It is a direct quote from Jesus. When Jesus came to earth His purpose and reason for being here made many of the old laws obsolete, replacing them with updated laws. In this case, ANYONE who harms another in any way is subject to severest judgement.
Righteousness and honor come in godly love for others. Loving our enemies as Christ says to do in the final bit of Matt 5.

An eye for an eye was a law used in the Old Testament, which Jesus later came and said should not be practiced anymore. Instead, you are to forgive the next person as many times as is humanly possible. What the Bible is trying to say here is that you should strive to be like Jesus, regardless of what you go through. Indeed, love is the answer to all things.
Yes, like Rose said, there's the Old Testament and the New Testament. The OT has all the harsh eye for an eye type stuff and the NT has all the lovey-dovey peace and harmony stuff.
The Bible is the opposite of the koran, in that the lovey-dovey stuff in the older Mecca suras are abrogated by the harsher violent stuff in the newer Medina suras.
Because we have 4 "cheeks".
hahahahahahaha
"And therein We laid down (the following law) for them (- the Jews); life for life and eye for eye, and nose for nose, and ear for ear, and tooth for tooth and for (other) injuries an equitable retaliation. But HE WHO CHOOSES TO FORGO (the right) THERETO FOR THE SAKE OF ALLAH, IT SHALL BE AN EXPIATION OF SINS FOR HIM. And whoever does not judge according to (the law) which Allâh has revealed, these it is who are the very unjust." [5:45]
Tell me which is more kind & righteous, The Bible or the Koran? Which is more abrogated in the harsher violent stuff - Bible or the Koran? Isn't it better to have an urge for learning, instead condemning others upon presumption?
all conversations are rendered mute without it
parable of the blind man.. its always the second touch
seeing with our eyes. not so much
In my experience the bible us just a collection of books and letters that really don't make sense UNLESS you ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand it. Next time before you read ask the Holy Spirit to help you and a whole new world of understanding will open up for you.
People are just so ignorant! An eye for an eye was interpreted LONG BEFORE JESUS as monetary compensation. This is the principle still in use in any civil law system. It was never applied or meant in the Hebrew Bible as physically taking out the offender's eye. When Christian imply or say that, that just lie. That was the case, however, under the Hammurabi code.
An eye for an eye & the whole world would be blind. Where's the honor or righteousness in that?
If we read the Bible at face value, without a preconceived bias for finding errors, we will find it to be a coherent, consistent, and relatively easy-to-understand book. Yes, there are difficult passages. Yes, there are verses that appear to contradict each other. We must remember that the Bible was written by approximately 40 different authors over a period of around 1500 years. Each writer wrote with a different style, from a different perspective, to a different audience, for a different purpose. We should expect some minor differences. However, a difference is not a contradiction. It is only an error if there is absolutely no conceivable way the verses or passages can be reconciled. Even if an answer is not available right now, that does not mean an answer does not exist. Many have found a supposed error in the Bible in relation to history or geography only to find out that the Bible is correct once further archaeological evidence is discovered.

Consider honor and righteousness are not TRUE values of the bible.
