I have a child of 4 years old. She lost her first tooth today. Is 4 to early to lose your first tooth?

I agree with Bluetulip in general. My son had a hard time loosing his teeth at what seems to be the appropriate age. He still had some baby teeth as a teen. True. But, what did have to be done is: dentist had to make sure about the permanent tooth and check him because permanent tooth can be no good when baby tooth comes out. But then, my son was much older than your child is now during some of this tooth thing. Another thing, is to be mindful of your child getting sensitive or maybe having pressure or swelling at any time in a certain area and tooth as it may have to be pulled so new tooth can come in. My son had to have several pulled. But, I might add that his permanent teeth were not damaged and he did ok. Just didn't want to scare you to think your child may have terrible teeth because of this. If it were me though, I'd stay in touch with dentist from time to time as he gets older even if to just call and ask if dentist thinks he should check your child at that time. It might turn out as Bluetulip said because I know it does, but wanted to mention my son just in case.

You're welcome. But in looking back over this question, I realize that I answered as if he were losing teeth at late age. I apologize! I was on computer and got interrupted and such and simply messed up.Sorry about that.

No, they will just fall out when they need too. All my teeth fell out by second grade, and I have really nice straight teeth.

I was freaked out just like u. My son was 4 and lost his first tooth. The dentist said its sooner than normal but it also depends when he got his first tooth. Which my son was like 6-7 months old. So don't worry it's normal. And 2 months later he lost another tooth
