Could some one please explain Mark 12 27. It is also found in Matthew and Luke? Thanks and God bless!

http://bible.cc/mark/12-27.htm I hope this website is helpful. It seemed to have lots of info. 12:27 "He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”
One comment from the website, "It is true, indeed, that to God no human being is dead or ever will be, but all mankind sustain an abiding conscious relation to Him; but the "all" here means "those who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world."
I think the point is that, to God, no one is unavailable to him even after death. Interesting question--thanks.

Incredibella

Jesus explained to the Pharisees to their trap question about marriage. In paradise, you are not married or given in marriage. therefore, there is no such thing as 77 virgins given to martyrs, nor anything you can work for, nor kiss butt to receive. He has given the christian community this wake-up call 2,000 years ago. I hope I was some help to you

Thank you, I understand we're you are coming from. But I am referring to God being God over the living and not the dead. Thank you though. God bless

If there are no women in heaven, then what will you be doing? Play the guitar and sing the Epic... Peter was given authority that whatsoever he sealed on earth would be sealed in heaven. Suppose Peter sealed a marriage, suppose he sealed a family. Both are within the bounds of the authority that was given to Peter.

Jesus told them,? are you not deceived because you don't know the scriptures or the power of god? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are like angels in heaven. Now concerning the dead being raised haven't you read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how god spoke to him: I am the god of Abraham and the god of Isaac and the god of Jacob? He is not god of the dead but of the living.

Thank you. So what do you think Him being God over the living and not the dead means? God bless

Verse 18 explains that the Saducees did not believe in the resurrection and the question they asked Jesus was to trick him. Jesus was simply explaining that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were living. God is their God and they are living. Remember what Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live." Same idea. G

Okay thank you. I see that seems to be the consensus. The fact that we Are eternal, therefore God is God of all. Thanks and God bless!

He is the god of the living and not the dead means that they are alive "in Christ" because they were His, though their bodies died, they were alive. The skeptors did not understand this because they were blinded.

Jerusalem, I want you to know that I forgive you for attacking me. I don't really understand why you would. But, I do see that you are and I forgive you. Now, as for me, I plan to go on participating in Ask.com. and God sees my heart and I'm sure He realizes what He means to me and that I make mistakes without even realizing it. I don't think He asked you to help Him with me, but maybe He did? If not, then, I forgive you. And, if He did, then I stand corrected!

You are trying to define a single verse. What you need to do is first and foremost you need to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you; in this instant you need to back up to verse 24 and read verses 24-28; when you do this you will find your answer. I find when I am puzzled by a verse I always read the verse before and the verse after, if I need more I read the entire chapter. God bless and good hunting.
