Is it just cola that eats away at your bones or does caffeine free diet mountain dew do the same thing?

Neither. That's an old rumor, and it isn't true.

If that was true, my friend would be have almost no bone mass. She still won't give up sodas. Used to drink 5 glasses a day and she still drinks a lot but not as much.

I have extremely strong bones, and used to drink 3 cans a day but I've gotten off that. I have never had a broken bone in my life, and I'm 24. Maybe it's because I love milk.

According to some scientific researches, there is a component in most beverages that is known to eat away your bones. Phosphoric acid is one of these components that cause weak bones in your body. However, caffeine free diet mountain dew might be excluded since it packs no caffeine.

While they don't eat away at your bones, all soft drinks can affect bone health. See this article: http://www.unhinderedliving.com/soda.html
