Why did soccer players back then have their shorts really short?

I my opinion, I think it was because that was the design back then. They never saw the importance of wearing long shorts in the fields since nobody commended negatively about their short shorts.

It was probably just the style back then and soccer was.not the only sport.with short shorts. I seem to remember the NBA, of all things, also had short shorts 'back then'.

Styles change. Basketball pkayers shorts used to be really short too.
