Best age to spay a female cat?

Report as

Probably 4-6 months. Depending on the age ask the vet. It is horrific to see kittens done as early as 6 weeks by butchers. If this a grown cat have the cat checked out and proceed from there. They can tell you what to expect as well as any changes in personality. :)

personality changes especially in males:) She is not even 20 weeks yet... The siamese I adopted was at the vet when I adopted her. She was about 4 months old and had just been spayed because a litter died inside of her:( So young??

I have a Siamese too! She just had kittens:). Boy they sure are annoying when in heat! They are very very vocal cats to begin with. But I still love her. I call her my Suzie Bluesy

As young as 4 months I was told. I just had a mother cat that had kittens and was looking into this. Call your vet where you plan on having this done. It will also make the cat live a longer and healthy life:)

Asking a vet depends on how much they want your wallet! I want pain meds...adequate anesthesia and proper treatment. She is Momma's baby girl...

Try looking for low cost clinics if cost is an issue. We have an animal shelter here and they have a vet that does it for $40 each cat/dog. I paid $220.00 for my dog. You gotta watch it, some vets take advantage of some people. So do your research. I'd call your local shelter and see if there's low cost clinics they'll recommend. They are good too so no worries

My animals are my babies too:). So I know what you mean. They'll see that they give her great care I promise you. Just do a little research

Cats can be spayed at around 5 to 7 months of age. This is because at this younger age, there is less chance of your female cat becoming pregnant or developing an ovarian or uterine disorder or a hormone-mediated medical condition if she is dissected. She is not even 20 weeks. I want to get it done as early as possible....so she doesn't have to go through a heat. I also don't want to do it too young. Let kittens be kittens!
