Regular trims to keep ends healthy and encourage growth. Hair grows in cycles, some follicles all randomly grow in different random groups together throughout the year. Vitamin D also. Properly condition your hair, the less breakage and the stronger the strand, the thicker and healthier it will grow. Every person's hair and biochemistry is different, make sure you try things but ask a professional. Brushing your hair is important maintenance. Depending on the hair type, style and length: for instance longer hair that is not very curly and is meant to be more straight, a paddle brush is always recommended. It is natural to shed like 100 hairs a day at least. Also, the longer your hair gets the more weight it will have. This can be addressed by layering and tipping, by a professional. The scalp is very important as that is where the hair comes from ;). Your hair will show everything you've ingested and imbalances in your body, like vitamins or essential minerals et al. Scalps sunburn too.

eat a lot of protein and get monthly trims because if you don't get it trimmed you will just outgrow you split ends

If you don't get it trimmed them you will get longer split ends, but it will still grow normally because it comes from your head, not off the ends.

This question has been covered before. there is no way to make hair grow faster. Hair grows at an average rate of a half inch per month. You could get hair extensions.

I've actually heard that doing nothing to your hair for a while like not using heating tools it will grow faster

It is all very basic once you understand how hair grows and figure out how your own body works. All this talk about hair falling out and not using heating tools and exact fixed rates at which hair grows (those are standard averages) are all dependant on your personal body/hair needs and doing the research into the actual science behind all of these things. Hair is SUPPOSED to come out, just like skin, it sloughs off regularly. Like 95% of dust is human skin flakes, basically. Clip in extensions or extensions that don't damage your hair as it grows work for short term length. It took me awhile and I consulted many sources, and through trial, error, and random observation, I've discovered how to have the easiest hair that looks good no matter what I do or don't do to it. It is always healthy and strong. Pics of me and my hair speak for itself. Understand how your body works, and then you will understand how to grow your hair ;)

no one really wants to do this, but if you dont comb or brush your hair constantly, it will grow better. because everytime you comb or brush your hair you are pulling out atleast over twenty to thirty strands of hair with each brush. keep it in a pony tail and let it grow as much as possible without getting uncontrollably tangled.

I know how to help- trim the dead ends of every once in a while it will make it healthy and heathy hair gets longer ! :)

Trimming it has nothing to do with growing it. It comes from your head so if you don't trim it it won't look good, but it also won't stop the growing process.
Report as
Ik but trimming keeps it healthier and could affect the "growing process"

Message your head frequently. This will stimulate the blood vessels in your scalp, which will promote growth.

This is true, do that and then put your scalp under really cold water. Massage it before you sleep because this is when it grows most.

In our daily life we see our hairs falling, this is due to the lack of proteins as hairs and nails are made up of pure proteins. So I think that if we need long hairs we should take great amount of proteins. By = Roman and Gurwinder

Don't use heating tools, don't brush your hair (combing is better) and eat lots of protein. Don't pull your hair. Seek professional help if it hasn't been growing for the past year or so.

I recommend no permanent dye whatsoever, ever!, if you want to grow long hair.It strips the hair. By tipping and layering your hair will grow but not be a heavy mess. Changing the position of your part or the way you have your hair regularly (like a pony tail will cause the hair to pull and thin in strange places) will encourage long hair from weighing down and thinning at the part.Towel and air dry when you can, but an ionizing quick blow dryer is fine. So are heating tools, just use the right styling product, and don't fry your hair. Hair sets as it cools, use the cool setting on the hair dryer, also adjust the heat. You can use conditioner and moisturizer as styling products. Dry shampoo, even baby powder. My hair stands as testament to the veracity of my answer ;). No coloring (i the past if I needed to not look like i was indoors all the time I'd squeeze lemon juice on my hair and sit in the sun), brushes and combs (just the right type), the right style with layering and tipping and frequent trims, and vitmains and scalp and moisture.

I've been a hairdresser for 45 years so.......Hair is made up of 'protein' so eat a lot of protein. Hair grows from 'follicles' in your scalp and they need to be stimulated to help hair growth so brush your scalp and your hair with a good strong firm natural bristle brush every night before you go to bed. This will also bring the natural oils from your scalp out to the ends of your hair and there is nothing better for your hair than your own natural oils. The average person loses 80 hairs a day so don't freak out when you see hair in your brush. Shampoo only when needed with a mild shampoo and rub the scalp as hard as you can.
Good luck

The real answer is keep your hair trimmed just the very ends every 6-8 weeks, then once a week have or give yourself a scalp treatment with any kind of conditioner...scalp treatment meaning massaging the scalp which then produces blood circulation causing it to produce faster...and but always it starts with a health diet so the pharmacy recommends any prenatal vitamin as a daily supplement. i've been a cosmetologist/instructor for 20 years...GOOD LUCK....I'VE TESTED IT IT WORKS!!
O don't forget 2 change ur shampoo every month so it keeps the build up off!!!
Also hair grows at a much faster rate in the summer heat then the winter...same as nails...hand in hand!!

To get longer hair, what I would do is let it grow long and then when it your hair needs a haircut, you would get an inch cut off of the ends-good luck!

Well, to start off i'm going to share a short story and maybe this will help. About 1 year ago my hair was reaaaaally long , almost to my butt . But since the weather was getting hot i decided to cut it up to my shoulders . And as months past my hair WOULDN'T grow ! I was getting so aggravated because usually my hair grow really fast ! So what i started doing was putting my hair up everyday before i go to bed . I put it in a really tight bun . And i guess what started happening was my hair was getting pulled out of my roots and i my hair started to GROW ! And now that a year has past my hair IS SUPER LONG ! it's up to my BUTT NOW ! i was super excited ! I also you TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner and sometimes i use Aussie shampoo <3 This really works . So try putting your hair up in a tight bun before you go to bed . If this worked for me , it'll work for you <3
Ps ; keep your scalp clean, don't wash your hair everyday because that can cause dryness and a risk to getting dandruff . Also eat a lot of protein

i agree to cute penguin...the only way to get your hair long is just by leaving it and apply no chemicals to it!!!!!
well, it's possible for hair to grow as long as you wish...but it depends on the way you look after your hair...i'ts simply by combing it regularly and avoid the use of chemicals....hope this answers your question...peaCe):

Below are some tips on managing long hair.

smart rest is important for the general health of your hair however never sleep along with your tied in a tight braid or ponytail because it can produce stress and cause unnecessary hair breakage. Also before sleeping comb your hair and tie it down loosely with a specially treated band that will not cause hair breakage.
Wash your hair many times every week. perpetually use a fine quality hair shampoo that suits your hair type like dry, normal, combination, or oily. Scrub the hair on your scalp and massage all the way down to the ends. perpetually use heat or cool water to rinse your long hair. Never use hot water because it can injury your long hair, making it frizzy and unmanageable.
perpetually use your fingers, or a large tooth comb to detangle your hair and avoid using a brush to try and do thus because it might cause your hair to break off. also attempt to be as mild as possible as an excessive amount of harsh handling can cause unnecessary hair breakage.

Try not to use to many hot tools (straightening iron/curling iron/blow dryer) If you do use one try using heat protestants. Also when you brush out tangles try not to rip at your hair. Gently comb until all tanglers are out. Also use some kind of shampoo that has something mosturizing or natural on it. Also trim about every 2-4 weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. Also prevent using harmfull dyes.

On average, human hair grows at a rate of half-an-inch per month. The basic guidelines for living a healthy life are the same guidelines for making hair grow faster and longer:

1. Eat a healthy diet. Minimize fat and sugar intake and increase protein.
2. Get plenty of rest.
3. Cut back on smoking, caffeine and sodas.
4. Exercise frequently.

Additional tips:

1. Take supplements known to boost hair growth: Vitamins B, C, E, Beta Carotene, Magnesium.
2. Avoid heat styling.
3. Try hot oil treatments on your scalp.

Biotin worked great for my hair,it was growing at a rate of one inch per month. Also makes hair very thick, I stopped taking it for that reason. I took it for 6 months - my hair is long again, my layers have grown out and it looks very healthy.
Avoid the hairdresser, as the trim will turn into a cut . I trim my own ends every 4 weeks.
