I'd say if you have no reason not to trust them, then why would that change your mind. Even when you are in a relationship, aren't you entitled to privacy?
On the other hand, if they have cheated on you before or given you any reason not to trust them, and they say that, then they're probably hiding something.

Yeah but if you had no secrets they shud just let them go on it but then again they shud trust each other enough not to have to or want to check each others phone :)

In my opinion, I believe that this depends on the kind of relationship you have. You can trust then if you feel there is nothing they are hiding or not trust what they say if they previously didn't keep their phone from you. A relationship should be kept open and communication is very important so that those involved can trust each other. Talk about it and find a way of handling the situation so that you are both comfortable.

If they have nothing to hide then there should be no problem for one to go through their phone. However, asking to go through someone's phone shows a lack of trust and curiosity and may cause the other person to feel forced to not show you their phone in hope that you "just learn to trust them anyway"... There is obviously something in the back of their minds that makes them want to check their boyfriend/girlfriend's phone and if they have nothing to hide and want to prove that they can be trusted, they should allow him/her to go through their phone.

It can go two ways. On one hand if you trusted them there would be no reason to look throw their phone, but if they had nothing to hide, they wouldn't mind. What would it hurt if you did go through his phone? You should ask him why you can't look through it...in a relationship you can get privacy but its just a phone...

Is something going on that makes you want to check the phone? People who have nothing to hide, hide nothing. I would be concerned about it.

People who have nothing to hide have no reason to hide anything from someone.people with something to hide hide it from someone. Makes sense to me!

I will never understand this always wanting to go through people's phones and all the arguments and drama I see about it on this site.. It's childish.
