My suggestion, contact your physician immediately! Shortness of breath can be caused by heart or lungs... Better to have a complete physical to rule out heart.

Good. I am glad you sought medical treatment. My dad smoked for a very long time as well, and had to have multiple angiograms, to open his arteries. I hope all is well...

Sound like some lung damage. Or heart issues! Do you have pain in you arm or chest? I'd be kind of worried about that, They run high in my family so we do play with that at all! Maybe you need to see your dr ASAP go to the ER. Good luck. Hope you are ok.

no pain in arm or chest. just shortness of breath. Why? does that mean something?
in ER, they told me the only way to confirm COPD is a breathing test.

My father in law had COPD and he was sick with the flu and his lungs could not handle it no meds or antis would work for him. He passed away a year ago this November. He was 60. No to worry or scare you but you need to have a XRay of your lungs and do it sooner than later. That is something that you don't want to mess with what so ever at all. You could have pneumonia or something like this. Here is a great web site works well. WebMD I go to it for everything all the time. Keep us updated good luck.

Youre just not used to going without your daily dose of cigarettes. Or maybe when you did smoke, crap accumulated in your throat and/or lungs and now you notice it because you DONT smoke anymore. or worse... a medical condition that went unnoticed due to your smoking.

The tar and gunk is still in there. It takes time to go away.
But see a dr anyway

It can also mean that from all the smoking your lungs are filled with fluids. You should go to your doctor and might put you on a breathing treatment.

I learned from my grandma she's 91 and has COPD and is on oxygen because she smoked at a younger age but her lungs were already damaged and went from 88-158 and is doing great.
