How long does sunburn usually last?

I went to a party on Saturday, and i was outside for about 9 hours. I didn't put on any sunscreen and got really burnt all over my body. It hurts a lot. How long until it goes away?

Sunburn left untreated can last up to a week (the effects are permanent, though).
If you use aloe Vera and take cold showers (I don't advise taking hot showers or even warm ones, they hurt), you'll get better in a few days.

Remember, wear sunscreen! It's not a good sign if you even get a regular tan because that means some skin cells have been damaged which can lead to skin cancer in the future.

well, if you have a really bad one where you can't move, (happened to me last year) it usually will last around a week or two, if only a little sunburn: 3-5 days,

use a cooling spray, keep in on for 10-15 minutes, it will sting, only because it is working. You can also use a good amount of Aloe Vera, helps it soothe it and takes away some of the burn, do this everyday for a week or longer

It really depends on the person and the severity of the burn. Mine usually last about a week, good luck!

they can last from 2 day up to a month. normally it is only a week but if you are as red as a tomato (litteraly) then it may take a month+
sometimes you can barely move when you have a sunburun and that can take about 2 weeks to a month. if your lucky it may take a week if you put some treatment on it.

if you get a sun burn put sun burn skin care on it (NOT LOTION (unless you want to get tanned and still have pain)) because that can make it go away even faster.

i get sunburns on my shoulders alot and i use my sunscreen skin care to get a very small unnoticed tan and it takes away the pain too. it is good.
even if the product cost alot it means it works good so you should get it anyways.

if you get a sunburn that only hurts when you touch it then that will go away in about 2 days+

good luck :)

It depends on the sunburn: a little one can last about 2-3days, a large one can last probably a week-2 weeks, a major one where you look like a lobster well... that can last about a month. Go to your local CVS Pharmacy and get a bottle of Aloe Vera; it will soothe
your sunburn so it will go away wicker no matter if its a major one or not.

Tip: ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN DON'T FORGET!!!!

A couple days, then it'll start to peel, and it'll be gone in about a week. If you want to make it go away faster, put some aloe on it.

Food that Reverse Sun Damage !

If you want to eat well to help your skin look younger, start by choosing these antioxidant-rich foods.

Antioxidants and sunlight : What you need to know ?

Most of us wear sunscreen and cover up with a hat and long sleeves when we can, but there’s no way to avoid all sunlight exposure. A double-blind, controlled trial from 2002 concluded that eating antioxidants helps to protect skin from sun damage—certain foods contain nutrients that help it repair and rejuvenate itself. But did you know that the amount of antioxidants in your blood decreases when your skin is exposed to sunlight ? Scary. So it’s important to make sure there’s a consistent presence of antioxidants in the skin. Here is the top food that help.

Cherries.

Juicy and tart Montmorency cherries are your best source of the antioxidant melatonin. Other cherries have it, too, but Montmorency has the most. Melatonin protects the skin against ultraviolet radiation. Researchers have discovered that this powerful little nutrient also helps repair sunburned skin, since it stimulates new skin-cell growth. Cherries are also packed with vitamin C, which is needed to build collagen—your skin’s natural “scaffolding” and a wrinkle preventer.

Sunlight includes infra-red light and ultra-violet light. These are not visible to unaided human eyesight but they can be very harmful, especially ultra-violet. These are the causes of skin cancer brought on by exposure to too much sunlight. People rush to get a tan on their brief holiday and overdo their time sunbathing so they get burned. The effects of over-exposure to sunlight are cumulative. The redness will go away but the damage has already been done.

I've used an aloe vera gel with LIDOCANE (gel looks blue) and that takes away the sting of the burn and helps it heal faster. It cools the sunburn and make you feel better faster. It works well. Next time do use a sunscreen to protect your skin!

It depends on the pigment of your skin. If you are fair skin it may take 7-10 days. If your skin is a custom to the sun than, 3-5 days.

Don’t peel your skin even though it may be tempting! Let it take its natural course. Instead of drying your self when you get out of the shower use a little baby oil and dry your self with that which will trap moister. You can also take milk baths to sooth the pain. Where light fabrics wear high sun block going forward and make sue that you reapply per directions too!
