Is it better to be underweight or overweight

Dont say both...and mods you can't remove it you know why...it's a health question

Report as

I think it's better to be underweight because it doesn't even have half the side effects and complications of overweight....like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, joint stress, etc.

Overweight is way better. At least your ribs aren't showing or you don't look weak.Plus MonaSez has a point but being underweight just has different problems that could end up killing you.

I'm not talking about extreme overweight or underweight....both are unhealthy and dangerous.

It is better to be underweight, because you have some chances to gain some weight, If you are already overweight it is very difficult to lose weight. To lose weight it is horrible.

5lbs underweight is better than 5lbs underweight
10lbs overweight is better than 10lbs underweight depending on how much muslce you have too.
15lbs overweight could be better than 15lbs under
anything over 20lbs for both is probably bad either way
30lbs overweight is worse than 5lbs underweight.
being a few pounds underweight, is better than being overweight, but a few pounds overweight is better than being alot overweight.

I think it's a question of degree. Being slightly over or under is fine, although underweight people have a tendency to be anemic. Being grossly overweight or underweight are both unhealthy.

For one thing the "ideal" weight is only a rough estimate, anyways. It is based solely on a person's overall height with no regard to build or body type. A person with a wide, muscular build will naturally weigh more than someone with a slender frame, but the "ideal weight" makes no allowance for this.

Coolspot: that IS kind of what you said. But your answer didn't appear on my screen until after I submitted mine. No plagiarism intended. :)

Overweight.

Think of it this way: you can be a skinny person and be overweight.
How, you might ask? Muscle weighs more than fat. You can have a lot of muscle mass and almost no fat.

Of course, being overweight with excess fat is still healthier than being underweight.

Both have + and - , but better to be underweight , because overweight are making more problems ( heart , hemoglobin ... ) , but underweight make your bones not so strong as they are when you are overweight a little .

I think under, because it's a billion times easier to gain weight than it is to loose it. And being a little under is healthier than a little over.

Over weight. If you are too skinny then you may be too weak and that would mean you are more prone to diseases..because your immune system would be weak. But being over weight also leads to many severe diseases.ONly difference is you would get different diseases if you are underweight and different ones for overweight. So it's better to be fit.
