Yes it is considered a smart phone because of its 3G or 4g connection and some of the features it holds. Actually I don't know if my reasonings are 100% accurate but hey I said yes and I know that's the right answer. :-)

A smartphone is a phone that has the basic things, calling and texting, along with internet and a 3G or 4G connection. So, yes, an Iphone is a Smartphone.
