The ability to completely relax is the first prerequisite to astral projecting. Relax your body and mind, enter the state bordering sleep, which is known as the hypnagogic state, deepen this state, and then enter a state of vibration. Check out www.everythingunderthemoon.net/astral-projection.htm for details and tips.

There's a helmet in Canada that will mess with your brain to give you feelings of leaving your body, visions of angels, ghosts, etc.

You know what I noticed after reading that? Everyone always seems to mention "astral planes" (still can't verify myself, I'm trying to though). They always mention "lower planes" are more "Hell-like", and "higher planes" are more "Heaven-like". This goes right along with my religion's idea of the Duuat (or afterlife). Also, mentioning when you split into five people, in my religion, the soul has five parts, the Ba (the personality), the Ka (life force that leaves the body when you die), the Ib (heart, also a record of good and bad deeds, very similar to karma), the Ren (no real knowledge of what it is, I refer to it as the "secret name", I think it's all your experiances), and Sheut (known as the shadow). Maybe the astral body is all those put together? Just saying, I just started thinking about it and noticed all of that. Sorry if I'm being odd by saying this all on Ask, it's easier for me.
