I've gained 15 pounds in 2 months and i feel bloated all the time. Whats wrong?

Hi there, im 17 years old and i was wondering why I have gained 15 pounds in the last 2 months and always feel really bloated. My stomach is huge, i look like im 6 months pregnant and my upper stomach feels a little hard. Also lately i've been having cramping almost every night starting from my upper stomach to my lower. I am about 2 months late on my period, but i know for a fact i am not pregnant. I hate it because of how uncomfortable i feel. Please any help would be great thanks.

Oh and also September 2010 i had surgery on my right ovary because i had a cyst that twisted my ovary. I dont know if that my have anything to do with how i feel now.

I think your previous medical problem might be making another appearance. You very well could have developed another cyst on the same ovary or the other one. It sounds like you're in considerable discomfort and have been for some time. Please make an appointment with your doctor tomorrow. Don't wait any longer; if it hasn't gotten better on its own by now, it isn't going to.

Usually if your gaining weight fast it isn't actual fat, it is water weight. (not by drinking water, it's just what happens) Watch what you are eating, stick to protein and veggies and grains mostly and drink water.

Did you even read all of her question? The cyst less than a year ago.... being 2 months late on her period.... upper stomach feeling hard? This is not from overeating.

haha, no one said it was from overeating...funny cuz I didn't see that word in my comment did you? But, since I am familiar with fast weight gaining and the usual cause... that is what i am addressing. Yes, cysts and many other things can cause abnormalities but I am being kind and letting her know not to worry about the bloating or weight gain, it doesn't mean she is ACTUALLY gaining weight.

ALSO JenniferHoppus- I had a lot of bloating and felt very uncomfortable and was feeling like I was gaining a lot of weight and it was actually me ovulating...I can feel when it happens and it freaked me out. But, that is normal too!

Let's see Morgan, when someone advises "Watch what you are eating, stick to protein and veggies and grains mostly and drink water," that's code for "you're eating too much and need to be more careful." Of course you don't have to actually use that particular word to get your point across.
And given her past medical history, I still think Jennifer should take this seriously and see a doctor. If it is merely a problem with eating too much, then that's one thing and I hope she can make some changes. If it is more serious, thinking that she just needs to eat better is not going to solve the problem. Waiting could make the problem worse.
This is not just ovulating; that doesn't take 2 months. Your suggestions, while I'm sure are meant to be helpful, really are off base Please don't bother to reply to this; I see little point in bantering back & forth with you.

Kimkay, jsut want to let you know that you are definitely the definition of a christian: judgeMENTAL.

I am sure that she is aware of side affects from meds and her surgery and I am looking at another aspect of gaining weight, so though I am sure you think that you are helping or intelligent with your comebacks...unfortunately you fail short of anything she doesn't already know.

Peace and Love, I will pray for you kimkay :)

Neither of you seem to care about this girls health, if u did you would not be aurguing like children. I don't know what is wrong with her and I have no problem saying so. I agree with Kim on one thing, she should see her doctor asap.

Anxiety, fatty acids deficiency, food sensitivity, cashing syndrome, drugs or many other reasons are the causes of your sudden weight gain. Eating healthy diet and a lot of exercise is very essential to avoid gaining sudden weight and feeling bloated. I'm 14 and the same thing happened to me. It just means your body is going through changes. Don't worry if you eat a healthy diet and exercise the weight will balance out.

Try some metamucil and drink tons of water, when you have waterweight the best thing to do is drink more water, I know it's weird but it works
