Testimonial- Normal with no strict guide lines to follow, in real life scenarios, can be perceived depending on faith, opinion, beliefs. A lot easier to believe if testimonials are common.

Research- strict codes to be follow, with independent and dependent variables to be assessed. May seem more scientific, direct, proven and sometimes harder to comprehend therefore, harder to believe.

Hope this helps.

Think of it like this....if we evolved from monkeys or whatever why are there still monkeys? Why didn't they change to. Plus there are more firsthand accounts of christ than of our first president.

Testimonials can have a placebo effect, research cannot.

I think people put more faith in testimonials than in proven research because it is comes from somebody who has experienced it. When proven research is done, people are given overall statistics or numbers which they did not see. On the other hand, talking or verbal information is more convenient to believe.
