(((666)))======"Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six," (Rev. 13:18).

666 is the number of the antichrist,,, the end times figure who will arise with the purpose of opposing God and God's people. 666 is the gamatria of the name of the antichrist.???=========The Bible is saying that the future antichrist will have a name that, when written in Greek, will have a numeric equivalent of 666.

It is considered to be the mark of the beast mentioned in Revelations.

It's in the book of Revelations that during the end of the world, the number 666 will be used by the antichrist (Satan's servant) to identify those that worship him.

Seriously, if all this shit ends up being real, I'm expecting a HELL (haha) of a showdown. And I WILL NOT applaud if Jesus isn't shirtless, smoking a joint with a different gendered lover on each arm and playing some mean psychedelic guitar. After all, it would have to be an appropriate representation and Jesus was a hippy...

Revelation is a book written partly in code, because it was too dangerous to write things explicitly. The so-called antichrist whose number is 666 is Nero Caesar, whose name in Hebrew gematria is 666. The entire book of Revelation is about the politics of the first century - and has no direct relevance to modern times. It has no predictive powers, and does not tell the future. It is written in the genre of apocalyptic literature of the day, which modern people are not used to read, and mostly misunderstand it. At any case, 666 is just Nero, not the devil, Satan, or anything else Christians would tell you.

I believe Lior has a very sound answer. Gematria (transforming names into numbers) was common in the first century, according to Bible scholar and teacher Hank Hanegraaff. Hank also refers to 'Lives of the Twelve Caesars', written by Roman historian Suetonius, where he identifies Nero by a numerical designation that is the same as the numerical value of the phrase, "murdered his own mother.' The Hebrew transliteration of the Greek name 'Nero Caesar' is 666. Ref: The Bible Answer Book Vol. 2, by Hank Hanegraaff.
