From experience Spays & Repellents do work to a great degree - you have to read the package because there are different percents of the brand's repellent - almost like sun screen . Unfortunately the number one place ticks like to hide and attach is the head-hair area due to the warmth and unless you load your hair with bug spray you can still get ticks there. Ticks like warm areas-private parts, cracks and ceases- under arms, neck, etc. and often go undetected on the back too. The best defense against ticks is a combo of tactics; clothing and hats, sprays and repellents and most important is to use due diligence-being aware of the possibility for exposure: remember that funny country song "I wanna check you for ticks " - my husband and I sing it after our outdoor excursions as we check every member of our family including and especially our dog (all animals) & kids!! RE- your initial question; 'repellent spray for ticks ?' Again, yes it does work to a degree but do not become complacent believing you are safe because of it and it alone-Not True !! One last recommendation: Don't forget to check your clothing , hats and shoes too ! Again, due diligence!! Maybe it didn't have enough time to travel to your body but is still on your person- give it enough time though and it will find it's way to a food source! sweep your external clothing & such before going into your home, have everyone undress their outside layers in one area-preferably without carpets: entry way, mudroom, kitchen, etc.-back porch is best! Collect all clothing and wash in hot or warm H2O - asap!!!! ** Sorry if this info makes it seem like more of a hassle to go outside & let alone to feel safe & not paranoid about a silly little bug or two! But, obviously you are aware of the health concerns with ticks-unfortunate but true! And depending on your exposure risks you don't have to dress for winter just to go outside as long as you continue to be aware and proactive in both preventing, monitoring and preventing again (at home when done)-etc...Last, a great outdoors property - yard/grass treatment that helps in protecting animals and humans from ticks, fleas & more is sprinkling SEVIN'S DUST (or a generic brand) over all grassy areas and then wet down to soak it into the ground . GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS & HAVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY, SAFE SUMMER!
