Would it be weird to spread butter/margarine on a Morningstar Garden Veggie burger? You know, like some people do with deli sandwiches

I'm wondering I it would be weird or taste weird to spread butter/margarine on the bun just like some people spread it on the bread they use for their deli meat sandwiches. Have you ever done this with a veggie burger? the reason in asking this is because in trying to increase my fat intake and I've already have the rest of the day figures out, but am still short on my fats.

Some people like butter on their sandwiches. Otherwise you could use mayonnaise, it's got quite a bit of fat.

Several restaurants around here butter and toast their buns.

It wouldn't be "weird" if you like the taste. It would add fat, and in all probability it would be "bad" fat (saturated fat for the butter, transfat for the margarine). If you like olive oil, that would be a healthier choice.

Actually it would be mostly unsaturated fats since I'd be using Smart Balance Original Buttery Spread (a non hydrogenated/non trans fat margarine). But, do you think that would taste ok with a Morningstar garden veggie burger on an English muffin? If so, how much should I use?

I'd have to try it personally to see what I think of the taste, but I'd guess that it would taste pretty good, since all you're doing is increasing the fat in a veggie burger (and in general, fattier foods, like foods with high sugar, tastes good).

Why don't you try it, and let us know how it turned out?

Ok, I'll do that. Stayed tuned later today and thank you for your responses!

As promised, here's an update after trying this combination as my 2nd half of lunch/afternoon snack. It was actually really good. It made the sandwich even more enjoyable than it is alone (and it's already a sandwich I really like plain, but the Smart Balance Spread made it that much better!). It also made the sandwich, much more satiating as I expected with the added fat. I think I just found my new condiment for my veggie burger. Thanks again!
