We have a beagle who breaks every harness and leash we have purchased for her. We need suggestions for a brand that is durable.

She weighs only 19 lbs, but is incredibly strong for her size. She pulls so hard that she tears her harness and jerks the nylon retractable lead rope apart when we take her for walks. She is a bundle of energy. We have been thru 3 leashes and 4 harnesses in less than 1 year. She was nearly hit by a car once as a result of running off during one of her destructive episodes!

Use a pinch collar with a leather leash. The retractable ones are notoriously fragile. You can try one of the harnesses for pullers that gets tighter as they pull. Work on leash training her in a safe place like your back yard. Try to wear her out a little by playing fetch before you take her on a walk.

I thing you should get a chock or shock collar for your dog. This will help train it and keep it from pulling too hard. If you aren't ready to use a shock collar, you can chose from this http://www.fordogtrainers.com/.

Train the dog. You must be getting your arm yanked off! If you don't feel confident about training yourself, take a short course at the humane society or an obedience class somewhere. You don't need to inflict pain, out muscle, or drag each other everywhere.
