I was given a dog by an ex.He was very abusive to her. He still has her papers, he wants her back. What do I do?

kids & I seen him hit her with shoes kick her across the room lock her in bathroom for 6 weeks while shes in heat dump her out of the cage when she hid from him so he could beat her make her lick up her vomit. He says that he is going to call the cops on me and say that I stole her

Tell him he can't have her. If you know he's been abusive then you have every right to keep the dog. Paper's don't matter. If he tries using law enforcement to retrieve her, tell them about the abuse.

Sad story. Unfortunately the law is on his side. Animal Control was called on dog abandoned across the street from me. Found in deplorable conditions. Several testimonies to ACO & police of neglect & abuse, felony charges were brought against dog owner. Dog owner's father showed up on scene, ACO offered to drop all charges if dog was given to me right then & there. 8 months later Dad & dog owner had me arrested for theft!! Judge ordered the immediate return of the dog because dog owner held her papers. Despite testimonies of ACO, police & eye witnesses of abuse! 2 weeks later ACO was called on the guy, he had kicked the dog--til it died.

Under no circumstances give this dog back! Do not let him intimidate you. You will be saving the life of this poor little dog. Put yourself in the dog's place. Would you want someone to return you to a world full of pain? Be strong

Report him to the police. Animal abuse is against the law. Don't talk to him about it either because he may hurt you. just avoid him

call the cops on him. And personally, when it comes down to it, I would risk the jail sentence for the live of the dog to no longer be at risk.

call the cops and keep the dog. try to get it on video so you have proof. i know you probably dont want to see it happen to your dog, but it will help. even if you have to go to court for it.
