You could give this a try. It is a recipe from Dr. Oz's site. It says that cherries are rich in melatonin, the bananas have magnesium which is a calming mineral, and the soy milk is high in tryptophan.
Ingredients 1 cup tart cherry juice 1/2 banana 1/2 cup soy milk or 4-6 oz soy yogurt (if using soy yogurt, add an additional 1/2 cup fat-free milk) 5 ice cubes 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
Directions Combine the cherry juice, banana, milk or yogurt with fat-free milk, ice and vanilla in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Everyone's different so all i can tell you is what i have actually just started doing, and it seems to help me sleep.
if you have an electric fan, turn this on when your in bed, on the lowest number so it doesn't get to cold. it has helped me get to sleep within 10 mins. i think my mind is focused on the nice breeze and also the noise of the fan...then all of a sudden im asleep. because the next day i don't recall trying to get to sleep....like i usually do.
obviously though, you may not have a fan, and you may personally not want to leave your electric running all night long lol...so it's just a little idea. :)
Download the app "Deep Sleep With Andrew Johnson". This guy has an Irish accent that is incredibly soothing and you start listening to him and in a few minutes you're out like a light!! The reviews on his sight are amazing - he has a cult following. I listen to this almost every night and it's worked every time. Good luck!
