Should we put down our cat?

I have a cat who's 17 years old. She's skin and bone, she's eating but not gaining weight and she's drinking a ton. She starting to pee on our rugs and make a mess of the cat box. It's a very hard decision for us, but should we put her down? Should we ask a vet on what they think we should do? Thanks.

I believe if it is suffering really bad you should do the humane thing. Sorry

I would recommend taking her to the vet and discuss your options. Putting down a pet is never easy, but if she is in pain it is the kinder way to go. Friends of mine had a 18 year old cat who was also skin and bones, but she was not in pain and she was still enjoying life so they let her live out the rest of her days peacefully. She died last week in her sleep. If you cat is like my friend's I don't think it is wrong to keep her around for a little longer.
