Statistically how common is a laryngectomy in a teen smoker?

Statistics?show that one third of adolescents who became regular?smokers and are affected by ?Laryngectomy. A survey conducted by S himbury and R west published in the British medical Journal found that 40% of 171 respondents tried smoking again post op (about two thirds of them had continued smoking right up until their operation).
