Why do mosquito bites itch?

When a mosquito bites you, it injects a poison into the skin. It is this poison that your body reacts to and causes the mild inflammation and itching around the bite.

They inject a tiny amount if an anticoagulant (blood thinner) into us before they start to feed. Most if us have a pretty big allergic reaction to it.
