My dog has a small lump on what it feels like his ribs and i can't afford to take him to the vet does anyone know what it might be?

6 years old. and he is a labrador retreaver.

The texture, size, appearance and turgidity of the lump will determine if the lump is cancerous or just a normal cyst or wart that is pretty harmless. If he has had vaccinations lately, it might also be a small vaccine granuloma in the process of getting smaller and dissipating. In any case monitor the lump for growth and take the dog to the vet as soon as possible.

It could be anything. You can call around and ask. There may be a vet that is willing to check your dog for free. Some really are there for the sake of the animal. Good luck!
