You pop the cap on that green thumb when you dig what the person is sayin :) If you think it's funny, or helpful, or spot on sarcastic, hey, you can even just thumb people for the heck of it!! :)

It's just to show that your answer was considered a good one and shows appreciation for what you've said. It also let's people know how often your answers are considered legitimate compared to how often you answer in general
