I myself recommend a PS3. Of course if you want to play GOW or halo you need the Xbox. but the PS3 has metal gear solid and a lot of other games only to PS3. Depends if you want to offer another 200-250 dollars to get a Xbox.(which is kinda expensive if you when you have a good console) but this question can get different answers from gamer to gamer. I think the online experience is a lot easier on the PS. Easy sign up, and no payment for your gamer tag(even though the gamer tag is not expensive at all)

XBOX is the more favored system, so if you're looking for great online games that never empty out then XBOX is the way to go. But if you're looking for graphics then PS3 has slightly higher graphics, but it comes at the cost of not having XBOX exclusive games. (ex. Halo series) not to mention that XBOX has substantially smoother gameplay when it comes to FPS games mainly because the triggers on the controller are curved to hold your fingers so they don't slip off as easy.

I don't think one or the other is better. Every console has it's strong points and it's weak points. Xbox 360 has lots of strong points, one of them is having a wide variety of games, as well as arcade games. Although the PS3 has quite a variety too, it does not compare to the Xbox 360. And now the 360 has the most well known, and best PC game, Minecraft!. The Xbox 360's strong point is the PS3's weak point. Now as for the PS3, one of it's strong points is free online. Unlike the Xbox you don't have to pay. Once you buy it you don't have to worry about buying a membership, you save some money. The PS3's strong point is the Xbox 360's weak point. As you can see neither one is better than the other, it's all about your preferences. If you want a larger variety of games then Xbox. If you don't want to have to pay for online then PS3. I have a Xbox and im very satisfied with it, i might even get a PS3. That's that. And what about the Wii?
Are you willing to pay the upwards of 60 dollars a year for Xbox live? Or could you go with the free PSN (Playstation Network). I would go with play station personally, because you get more hard drive space for the same price as a 4GB Xbox. I would go with Playstation.
Both have their ups and downs. Generally i like the X-Box better because of the fitter controller and the servers seem to run much better online. But i have recently switched to the PS3 (try something new) and i like it more than i thought i would. Other than the small controller thats ultra sensitive, i like how there is a blu-ray disc player built in and natural wi-fi (i never owned a x-box slim). Also being able to download movies and music for free on certain sites made it even better. And more players on the PS3 are willing to chat (even though most is trash talk), when X-Box made theyre first update and created the party chat, no one seemed to talk anymore online (other than friends) which made gameplay boring as if you are playing with advanced A.I. But i would give X-Box the thumbs up on gameplay/online and i would give PS3 a thumbs up on other entertainment. Itreally comes down to the individual gamer. (Oh and it is VERY frustrating that PS3 never gets DLC or any other download until months after the X-Box.....ugh!!)
ps3 is for wimps who can't handle the extreme intensity of the Xbox. ps3 controllers are so frail and tiny, while gameplay for the Xbox is pure. don't you know that the Xbox was made by Bill friggen Gates?
