I'm an atheist. And there are two types of people. 1- Those who think they know about the world because they took some lame ass college visit to Peru and 2- Those who realize how much they don't know, how much there is yet to learn. There's no talking to theists. I don't understand why you are all so headstrong.
Hokey...... "There are two kinds of fools. One says, "This is old, therefore it is good." The other says, "This is new, therefore it is better." Let us be thankful for the fools. But for them, the rest of us could not succeed." - Mark Twain "There are two ways to live: You can live as if nothing is a miracle; You can live as if everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein "There are two kinds of light - the glow that illuminates, and the glare that obscures." "There are three classes of intellects: one which comprehends by itself; another which appreciates what others comprehend; and a third which neither comprehends by itself nor by the showing of others; the first is the most excellent, the second is good, the third is useless." - Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince, 1532 AD People say that God doesn't exist because they lack one necessary ingredient: FAITH
I am an atheist, and I have very good reasons for not believing your god. I understand us science nerds don't know everything there is to know about the Earth and the universe and what not- but so far science has led me to the conclusion that there is a very slim chance of any gods existence. What evidence proves God's existence? A book first written, what, over 3,000 years ago? Written when people were first trying to make sense of the world? They didn't know half of what we know today. I can respect your religion and your decision to believe in God. I just can't respect a person who's considering me as ignorant for believing something with nothing but faith to prove its existence. It's unfair for you to insult people like this.

People say there is no god because that is their belief and they have as much right to it as you have for your beliefs. believing in god doesn't make someone any better, nicer or correct, people are people. If you read some of the condemning, bigoted or hating responses from some " Christians" on this site alone, you will discover why some people choose to opt out. For example, your question, just because some people don't see things your way they are "ignorant", how Christian is that? Please remember that freedom of religion also includes freedom from religion.
Well, if some people have a tough life, it may be hard for them to believe there is a God there who loves and cares for them. And there's some people in general who need to see, and touch in order to believe. It's difficult for people to believe, pray to and worship something that they can't see. I believe in and love God. And you know what? You can pray for those people that don't believe. Pray that they will come to realize that there is a God who loves them:)
People who are wise and live fulfilling lives don't need god. God is for the broken, the lost, the hopeless, or those unlucky enough to be born into it. Not that it's a bad thing, religion was invented for the poor to be controlled by those in power. It promotes servitude and takes away free will and free thinking. Those who were hopeless will defend it to the teeth because they are weak. But praying for a dead love one doesn't bring them back. Praying doesn't cure the sick. Praying doesn't feed the poor. Praying doesn't regrow amputees. Praying just makes you feel better about accomplishing nothing in that given time.
Those who reject God do so because they don't want the God of Love ruling them. They don't want the power of God's Love being the motivating empowerment in their lives. They want the self-glorification and self-gratification of their own flesh, their human mind, spirit, and emotion, to rule over them and be the power in their life. They refuse to see God's active Hand in the lives of men and women. Being unable to deal with the reality of the loving God, they seek to find a naturalistic/materialistic explanation for every miracle of God. They hate God and God knows it
This really isn't anything new. Many who actually heard Jesus teach and saw him perform miracles still refused to believe. And I don't think it's not really a case of ignorance for most people. There certainly are those who have made a thoughtful decision to not believe in God's existence or that he works in and through people. But I think most people don't believe because they've either not be taught or have been taught in a such a way as to not understand. I know way too many people who have been turned off by the church and want nothing to do with it because of past hurts done to them or others they know, all in the name of religion. It's sad, how some use the church to perpetrate wrong. But that's not really anything new either.
People don't believe there is a god worth worshiping if a god at all because no one can prove there is one. It's like an air cleaner or age defying cream, you hope it does good but you will never be able to know in your lifetime. The people who say this are not ignorant, you have this backwards. It is ignorant to assume a god exists with no evidence. In the world of logic and argument this is absolute. Don't believe me? Go read some articles by scholars on logic and argument and you will see who is the one officially ignorant here. Believe what you will but you should know your place. 'God' will not stand up in any court room as a legal anything but a farce nor will he stand against me when I tell the truth because god has no influence on me. He may as well be dead. oh wait... And that is why people don't believe and who is actually ignorant of logic.
Romans 11:25 says, "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."
You see, people are blinded by their own opinions. They willingly ignore evidence of an intelligent designer (God), because they don't want anyone to be accountable to. The same thing in 2 Peter, it says that they will be willingly ignorant, seeking after their own lusts. Without a God to answer to, we get the freedom to do what we want, when we want, wherever we want. The only wrong thing is what is wrong in our own eyes. (See Comments)

you see what you want to see. No matter the amount of evidence given is going to make you believe something you don't want to.No matter how evident it is. Not ignorance it is just my window through which i see the world and i can't change the window no paradigm shifts for me.(read Plato's cavemen example who are chained to wall to understand what i am saying)
As humans evolved, the large extended family codependent tribal life and environmental hardship created evolutionary pressure to select for those who would benevolently benefit the group rather than themselves. This created our heightened sense of benevolent empathy which has also been observed in other social animals . Then with this set of benevolent tribal ideals combined with our ability to have a third person perspective as a result of empathy , along with our intelligence you then have "Ta-Dah!" the feeling that there must be a god out there. There is no evidence that a god exists; so it would seem quite ignorant to believe something in the absence of evidence. If I told you that I believe the flapping wings of invisible, deified pink unicorns are the cause of air currents you couldn't prove me wrong and there are obviously air currents. Using your logic I should think you're ignorant for not believing it also. - And I pray that our benevolent third person empathy fills you with the tranquil assurance of its presence and the satisfaction of knowing you're needed. They can believe what they want. Until you prove your god is real, don't say say anyone else is ignorant. I acknowledge the existence of god because I'm a Luciferian Satanist but I'm not going to insult others and call them ignorant. To Athiests you're the ignorant one.
