How to offer to pay for a business meeting (with a group of people) without making a mess of it?

Offering to pay for lunch is always messy. How to be the one to pay without making a scene, in a professional way.

When the server comes to the table and asks if this will be together or if you want separate checks, speak up and say that you want one check, and that you will take it. Anyone with any sense of decorum will not make a scene in front of the wait staff.

Where do You go that the waite staff asks "if you want seperate checks" ???
The best way to handle this situation is to discretely tell your server that you are picking up the tab. It doesn't have to be announced the the whole group,,unless of course you're looking for recognition.

The wait staff ALWAYS asks how the checks will be apportioned. I'm so sorry if your dining repertoire is restricted to McDonald's where you are only asked "Do you want fries with that?"

AND it's bloody flipping obvious that SOMEONE will be picking up the check. The Tab Fairy simply does not exist. Eventually everyone will know who footed the bill for lunch anyway. This is not asking for recognition; it is a gracious gesture. I'm so sorry that you grew up with no manners. And why didn't you choose to comment on Nkathers' answer below me? He said essentially the same thing. You, my dear sir, are a misogynistic putz.

Hey, when I'm attacked, I respond in kind. Otherwise, I do follow that advice. And if you don't like it, you very well know what you can do as well.

That's not very kind either :D

In my opinion, you can offer to pay for a business meeting by letting the waiter know after he asks how the bill should be split by asking for one check. This will be an okay move and hopefully things will go on well as they see it as a gesture of good faith.
