Why does my lg cosmos keep telling me to delete unwanted contents or messages?

I keep getting a message that my inbox is full and to delete old messages. I say OK and have no old messages. The prompt repeats.

You need to delete old messages so as to create space for new ones. When the inbox is full, it becomes hard to receive new messages. It is therefore advisable to delete old content.

I have deleted all my old messages-e-mails, texts, pics etc. Even though I have deleted old content, my phone keeps telling me that my inbox is full!!
