My advice is, find a simple recipe, and then modify it to suit your tastes. That is my basic approach to all cooking. I have the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, and basically use everything in there as a starting point, but then omit ingredients I don't care for, and substitute ingredients I like better.

1 Pie crust
4 beaten eggs
1 1/2 cups half and half
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper (I always use more fresh ground pepper than the recipe says)
3/4 cup chopped meat (ham, chicken, or crab, about 3 1/2 oz.)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (Swiss, Cheddar, Jack, or Havarti, match to meat)
1 Tablespoon flour
They say a dash of Nutmeg, but I leave that out.

I would add at least 1 clove of garlic.

You pre-cook the pie crust (according to the directions on the crust you bought, or the recipe you made it from)

Meanwhile mix the eggs, cream, onions, salt, pepper (and nutmeg).
Stir in the meat
Toss the cheese and flour together in a separate bowl, then mix with egg mixture.

Pour mixture into hot pie crust, and bake at 325 for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

Let stand ten minutes and enjoy.

Classic Quiche Lorraine: 6 Eggs, 2 cups Cream or Milk, Bacon or Ham (Cooked) Fresh Baby Spinach, 3/4 cup Swiss Cheese, 3/4 cup any other cheese (not Mozzarella or Parmesan; doesn't melt right)(recommend more Swiss, Monterey, American or Gruyere), Garlic to taste, Chopped Onion of choice, Black Pepper & Salt...add 3/4 cup Bisquick to the mixture and it magically makes it's own crust
