Why are my eyes so itchy?

well, I've had itchy and red eyes before but that all stopped for a while and now for about 3 days in a row my eyes have been itchy like crazy, they get red in one corner of the eye and makes my eyes water! yesterday I was itching it do much, my one eye felt puffier than the other one, you couldn't really tell it was but it was swollen a little. my eyes are still really itchy and I do have cats do that might be the problem I don't know. I woke up this morning with some of my eyelid glued shut. could this be allergies or what?

If your eyes are gritty or scratchy
That's allergen or irritants made worse by pollen or weeds. Then miss ellemacgregor is correct..
But if your eyes have drainage or puss it's abscess.
Now eye crusting with sleep as a symptom. Conjunctivitis is the condition. (Pink eye)
Home remedy for pinkeye do not use antihistamines till you check with a doctor unless your sure it's allergies. But it sounds like pink eye.warm moist towel will reduce redness and swelling. Be careful from spreading eye to eye.wipe from inside out use clean surface with each wipe so drainage is wiped away when finished put in wash so no one else touches it. If you use tissues right in the garbage it is very contagious...
This is caused by bacteria. Stay home 3 to 5 days or till it clears up if it should start to get worse or you don't want to use the home remedy see your physician. Antibiotics usually kills the bacteria that causes pink eye it may include eye ointment. If your insured go to see the doc. If I'm wrong about the pink eye tell me and I'll never practice again... Hope you feel better Soon. If you work or in school you get a little vacation. Remember very contagious to all even to you if not cared for properly it can spread from eye to eye..

Hey sorry for taking so long to get back!! I've been thinking of you how are you? Got that thing licked yet?
Was I right pink eye? Sure sounded like it...., hope your well, if not get well soon.
