Does anyone know what "anti-lock brakes" are?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you were to slam on your brakes the anti-lock system kicks in and rapidly makes the pads come in contact with the rotors. This is done because if your pads were in constant contact with the rotors your car would skid out of control.

The anti-lock braking is the type of system used to handle car conditions especially when a car has been stopped in a hurry. It consists of several systems like the pump and the valves.
